Terms & Conditions
BOOKING FEE
In order to schedule your cake on your chosen date a non refundable £100 booking fee is required. Without the booking fee your date will not be held and priority will be given to the first to pay their booking fee.
FINAL PAYMENT
All final payments are due exactly one month before your event, payment may be made earlier if you wish, although please advise Claire before doing so. If payment is not made on or before this date then we reserve the right to cancel. Any late payments may incur admin charges.
CANCELLATION
The initial £100 is non refundable and non transferable under any circumstances – this covers time already spent on consultation, tastings and any loss of business due to your booking preventing other bookings for the same date. In the event of cancellation on your part the following charges will apply:
- From booking to 12 weeks before your event date (booking fee retained)
- Between 12 weeks and 6 weeks of your event date – 70% of outstanding balance to be paid
- Between 6 weeks and date of your event – full balance required
If you cancel the wedding and work has already started on your wedding cake, we will cease work on your cake at the point of cancellation. If the cake has been baked we will contact you and offer for you to arrange collection. The cake can not be delivered to a different venue / different event. You are securing your date for the date specified and no alteration can be made to that, it is not transferrable.
We retain the right to cancel your booking in circumstances beyond our control, such as fire or ill health. In this instance I would do my utmost to find you another cake designer of the same style / quality as myself. I would of course discuss this with you at length. If this was not possible i would refund all payments made to date in full.
YOUR WEDDING CAKE
We will not provide a wedding cake when other cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, dessert table items etc are being provided by another baker. We do this because we have a reputation to maintain of supplying beautiful and delicious cakes, it would be wrong of your guests to assume that another bakers cakes were ours. We reserve the right to remove our cake from your venue and retain payment for the cake if any other cakes are served at your event. This does not include your dessert from your venue / caterer. If you wish to serve additional treats to the cake please speak with me, I can supply or will discuss with you the alternatives.
CAKE SET UP / LOCATION AT VENUE
It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the venue supply a suitable table and location for the cake to be displayed. I will work with you and your venue to find the most suitable location for your cake, however once the cake has been delivered and signed for I am no longer responsible for it. Any cake placed outside during an event has the possibility of melting in the heat. We always ask for the cake to be signed for at your venue before we leave.
WEATHER
Cakes and high temperatures do not mix, it is advisable that your cake is displayed in an air conditioned room. We have no control over the stability of your and / or the décor on it if the temperature in the area in which it is displayed is unusually high for the UK.
DELIVERY
The cost of delivery and set up at your venue will be quoted. If the venue is changed additional charges may apply. We are not liable for any damage to your cake at the venue once we have delivered and set up your cake. With this in mind we require someone responsible to sign a disclaimer before we will leave any cake, it is often your wedding co-ordinator at your venue who is able to sign, but you may prefer to ask a member of your wedding party.
DESIGN / ALTERATIONS
It is your responsibility to read and check your design proposal thoroughly. Any amendments made once your booking fee is paid may result in an adjustment to the cost of your cake. Every cake we make is individual and we will not copy an image like for like. We will create the cake you have designed with us but we reserve the right to amend your design minimally at the point of creation if it were to otherwise compromise the quality of your finished cake.
ALLERGIES / DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
An allergen list will be left with every cake supplied, this will be handed to your wedding co-ordinator / chef / caterer. Dietary requirements are your responsiblity to advise, if you have any concerns please discuss it with me.
NON EDIBLE ITEMS
Most cakes will have non edible items, all tiered cakes contain dowels, and your cake may have sugar flowers, ribbon etc. The venue will be asked to remove these for you prior to cutting but this is your responsibility to ensure they are not accidentally eaten.
COVID-19
Should your event be cancelled due to Covid 19 (the couple unable to attend) then i will work with you to move your date. An admin fee or price increase may apply dependent upon time between original and new date. No refunds are given.
COMPLAINTS
If you have any concerns about your cake please notify us upon delivery / inspection so that we have the opportunity to rectify it in time for your event. A partial refund is only given if cakes are returned to us and are unsuitable for consumption / not described in the written quote. No refunds are given due to change of mind or you have decided you don't like the taste etc or in the unlikely event of late delivery (defined as delivery after the start of the wedding breakfast). The maximum compensation will be 10% of the full cost (minus booking fee) .
